The area around the Narzissen Hotel offers the perfect starting point for your hiking tour or adventure trip. Whether Loser, Tressenstein or Trisselwand - many worthwhile destinations can be found in the immediate vicinity.

Below is a selection of popular tours that we can recommend. 

Walking routes and easy hikes

 

Sommersbergsee circular tour - the circular route to the idyllic Moorsee lake around the Ischlkogel, about 1.5 hours

Altausseer See circular tour - one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Salzkammergut region, about 2 hours

Tressenstein viewing point - beautiful excursion hike to the viewing point with views over the Aussee region, about 2 hours

Medium to difficult hikes>

 

Loser - circular hike to the summit of Altaussee’s local mountain with its distinctive rock crown, approx. 3.5 hours (from the Loser hut)

Trisselwand - an impressive rock wall at the foot of the Altaussee lake, about 3 hours to the summit (from Tressensattel)

The High Sarstein - the striking border between Styria and Upper Austria with a short secured passage, about 3 hours to the summit (from Pötschenhöhe)

VIA Artis allows you to follow in the footsteps of creative people who lived here and found inspiration for their work, across the heart of breath-taking landscapes. Not only painters and sculptors, musicians and composers were inspired by the Aussee region: so too were poets and authors, as well as scientists and scholars.

VIA ARTIS leads through the towns of Altaussee, Bad Aussee, Grundlsee and Grimming - each as its own independent, separate hiking trail. The folder "VIA ARTIS Artist Routes in the Aussee region" is available free of charge in all tourist information offices in the Ausseerland or can be downloaded here. Detailed directions can be found in the above virtual hiking world.
