TradItion
Tradition is made a reality here
Tradition and the down-to-earth nature of the population are reasons why music, dance, song, dialect and traditional costume have been so well preserved up to the present day. That is why the Aussee region is also Austria's traditional dress capital.
However, tradition and culture are not only expressed in clothing: they also come to the fore in various cultural events.
Carnival season, in particular, is celebrated here: "drum women" - solely men dressed as women - pass through Bad Aussee, loudly banging their drums and dressed in nightclothes. And the "Flinserl" - spring figures with elaborate costumes - walk through the town.
At the end of May, the daffodil festival enchants innumerable flower fans with ornate daffodil figures, composed of thousands upon thousands of flowers, and laboriously made by hand.
The Altaussee beer tent - known as the "Kiritag" by the locals - enables everyone across the Aussee region to meet in Altaussee and celebrate together.
